First Snow with the Cardinals

Mr. and Mrs. Cardinal enjoying a meal together.

Who would of thought that on October 10th we would get our first snow. Well, I guess they did warn us it was coming so it really wasn’t that big a surprise. But nobody briefed me regarding the cardinal visit we were about to receive.

It took me totally by surprise when I glanced out the window and saw a female cardinal just casually eating away. I tried to get some pics of her, but by the time I got ready she flew off.

A short time later I took another look out the window and sure enough she was back, but she brought company. Her mate! I have seen cardinals quite a few times and have gotten many pictures of them on my feeder back in Iron Mountain, but I have never gotten a decent image of a male and female together until today.

They stayed for quite a while which gave me an opportunity to get quite a few pics of them in various poses. They returned throughout the day many times. I do miss the cardinals I used to have frequenting my feeders at my old house. It’s nice to see them show up here now.

A nice winter day in October.
