Yes. We be in Jamaica. It’s been a struggle dealing with the warm tropical climate and abundant sunshine, but we soldier on. 

Arrival day was all good. It’s always good when you make it to you destination with all your baggage intact. It was my first experience going through customs, but that too was all good. A few forms to fill out, a few questions to answer and you are free to roam. I might add that the Jamaicans are very friendly and helpful. I also might add that you can stand in the airport with a beer. In fact you can stand in just about any place with a beer in hand. Buy it in one shop and carry it into another. Ask any local if you can do something and you will most likely get a response of “yaw mon”. There doesn’t appear to be a lot you can’t do in Jamaica.

And if things don’t go exactly as hoped or planned the locals will be the first to remind you that it will be alright. After all you are in Jamaica. The first time I heard this was on our shuttle ride to the resort. It was more like a let’s see how many people we can fit on to a bus. We will put your bags on this bus and then realize we can’t fit all of you on it so we will put you on another bus and remind you that you are in Jamaica. It will all work out. They were right. It all worked out. 

And then there were the rooms which weren’t yet ready for us upon our arrival. No biggie. We put all our stuff in the one room that was ready and headed down to the beach. It’s difficult to be upset with the soothing sound of the ocean and it’s surreal green blue color. A constant reminder that it will all work out.

Even the rain doesn’t seem to be much of a problem. It is the rainy season after all, but sometimes it’s a good thing to put the sun on hold for a bit. It also makes you discover that the hot tub is a perfect place to enjoy a drink while you wait for the sun to return. In Jamaica it always just seems to work out.
